I get asked all the time where I get ideas for my art journals. I have a few sites I visit online and on Instagram weekly and I am always inspired to get to work in my journal. Most of the people I learn from online have been doing this for a long time, they have workshops in person and online, books and products to help make your art journals come alive. Make sure you take time to make something and don't get lost in only looking at what others are doing, an easy trap to get into.
Here are some of my favorites:
Balzer Designs where Julie Fei-Fan Balzer gives instruction, ideas and inspiration to create beautiful journal pages. I took her online course 30 Days in Your Journal and I absolutely loved it. She sells products and books as well. Her suggestion of 10 minutes in your journal a day is doable and makes for a fun journaling practice.
Pam Garrison has beautifully painted journals with wonderful colors. I took a class in person from her, it's where I learned to make our craft paper covers that we use on our journals.
Traci Bautista has a colorful, layered style to her art that is full of energy. Her blog includes ideas and instruction for getting some of the same looks you see on her pages.
Dina Wakley taught herself to draw and has beautiful images in her journals. I learned all about the magic pencil from a workshop with her. She comes to Albuquerque sometimes so check her teaching schedule and maybe you can attend a class!
Donna Downey has a whole creative team of people who provide instruction and inspiration on her blog each week. There are videos and ideas throughout her pages, you'll learn something new for sure.
Now, get to work!
